ŠKODA’S SUPERB HAS ALWAYS BEEN EXCELLENT value, as well as stylish and spacious. With new levels of comfort, driving dynamics, standard specification inclusions and power usually reserved for the segment – and the price-bracket – beyond, the new model arrives in showrooms in June.
The all-new Superb uses the MQB Evo platform as its basis, offering greater chassis rigidity, with resultant improvements to handling, and a cabin that majors in quiet, cosseting occupant comfort. Meanwhile, the Superb’s reputation for providing more space, performance and practical inclusions than rivals, while preserving its pleasantly surprising price-point, has been strengthened.
The Superb delivers smile-inducing performance, thanks to its 2.0 litre turbo petrol engine with all-wheel drive, delivering 195kW of power and 400Nm torque, and a zero to 100km/h time of just 5.6 seconds for the Sportline Sedan, and 5.7 seconds for the Sportline Wagon. Paired with Škoda’s seven-speed DSG transmission, standard Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) and progressive steering, this powertrain ensures that the Superb’s performance need not play second fiddle to comfort.
Škoda’s Superb range includes the Sportline Sedan from $67,990 (plus on road costs) and the Sportline Wagon from $69,690 (plus on road costs). With Škoda Choice (Guaranteed Future Value) pricing, the Sedan is available from $198 per week, whilst the Wagon can be secured from $201 per week.
The Superb Sportline Sedan highlight features include 19-inch ‘Torcular’ alloy wheels, ‘Keyless Advanced’ locking and starting system with walk-away locking, SAFELOCK and alarm, 13-inch Infotainment screen with navigation and wireless App-Connect for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 10-inch virtual Cockpit, 12-speaker CANTON premium sound system, wireless smartphone fast-charging with active ventilation, tri-zone climate control, heated and ventilated sports comfort front seats with power adjustment, pneumatic lumbar support, thigh support and massage function, heated and leather-wrapped sports steering wheel with paddle shifters, heated/power-folding/auto-dimming exterior mirrors, 360-degree surround view camera, Matrix LED headlights with Adaptive Front Light System (AFS), power tailgate with virtual pedal and, of course, one door-mounted umbrella.
Škoda’s leading Travel Assist (which incorporates adaptive cruise control with Traffic Jam Assist, Adaptive Lane Assist and Emergency Assist), Front Assist with Collision Avoidance Assist and Turn Assist, Side Assist with Exit Warning, Front and Rear Traffic Alert, and 10 Airbags are also standard for added peace of mind.
The Sportline Wagon improves upon the Sedan’s 589 litre boot capacity, raising it to 634 litres, or 1920 litres with the second row folded down (1795 litres with second row folded on the Sportline Sedan). In addition, the wagon variant also picks up roof rails in a black gloss finish, variable boot floor with storage space under the luggage compartment floor, plus an adjustable organiser, and an electrically-operated luggage compartment cover.
Also available as a $1900 option on the Sportline Wagon is a panoramic glass sunroof.
Škoda Australia Product Manager, Aline Carrullo, said the all-new Superb will appeal to a growing group of new Škoda customers.
“The Superb is tailor-made for those who want those Škoda hallmarks of segment-busting value, specification inclusions, space, and smart, timeless design, with a particular emphasis on comfort for long drives, and performance and driving dynamics that makes traversing all road-types a cinch.”
“With it’s refreshed exterior styling, elegant and intuitive interior design, quiet ride, effortless power delivery, and generous spec inclusions, the all-new Superb is well-placed to win the hearts and minds of new and existing Škoda customers alike,” Ms. Carrullo said.
“As with every Škoda, the Superb also offers the peace of mind that comes with a 7-year, unlimited kilometre warranty – the only European brand to do so – as well as Škoda Choice Guaranteed Future Value, and affordable servicing.”
