IN A RESULT THAT WILL SURPRISE absolutely nobody, Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year in collaboration with a Czech magazine, has analysed the perceptions of female drivers from 47 countries and found that a staggering total of 95 percent say they have experienced aggressive behaviour from others.
For more than a third of women drivers, such situations cause anger (39 percent) and nervousness (34 percent).
Half of the 1879 respondents reported that they encounter aggressive driving on the road very often (51 percent) and almost a third (31 percent) rather often. Examples of aggressive behaviour by others on the road included driving close to the rear of another vehicle, racing, and even physically attaching another road user. A small proportion of respondents consider reckless driving on the road, overtaking in places where it is not specifically allowed and driving unreasonably slowly where overtaking is not permitted as further examples of aggressive behaviour.
The study also shows that women drivers value a sense of cautious driving (29 percent) and following the rules of the road (25 percent). They also admit their driving weaknesses include uncertain/indecisive driving (26 percent), parking (26 percent) and driving in difficult conditions (23 percent).
