Kia confirms pricing for Tasman Single Cab and Dual Cab utes

KIA HAS ANNOUNCED DETAILED cab-chassis pricing for the Tasman Single Cab and Dual Cab line-ups, following the Pick-Up range which is now in showrooms.

The Tasman Single-Cab chassis range spans three variants, opening with a very competitive $38,010 (plus on road costs) for the S 4×2, with the S 4×4 at $45,010 (plus on road costs), and the SX 4×4 tops out at $49,520 (plus on road costs).

The Dual-Cab chassis line-up covers two variants, with the S 4×4 at $48,240 (plus on road costs), and the SX 4×4 at $52,740 (plus on road costs).

The two Dual-Cab chassis variants will be available in Australian dealerships from August, with the S and SX trim levels both featuring the Tasman’s advanced 4×4 drivetrain. Single-Cab chassis variants will follow in late 2025.

Cab-chassis Tasmans are priced beneath their Dual Cab equivalent trim levels and can be paired with a Kia Genuine Accessories tray, which can be accompanied by further options such as an under-tray drawer, tool box, and water tank.

Tasman Kia Genuine Accessories

While the Tasman itself has benefitted from significantly more Australian input than any other Kia, a range of 40 Kia Genuine Accessories have been developed in Australia to help owners make the most of the Tasman’s many abilities.

Beyond the aforementioned cab-chassis tray options, there’s a variety of roof storage layouts, canopies, tonneau covers, a sports bar or sail plane for Pick-Up models and multiple bull bar, side step and tow bar configurations to choose from.

Dedicated off-roaders can opt for a snorkel and dust defence kit, while general adventure is catered for with roof pods, in addition to bicycle, watercraft, and ski and snowboard carriers.

There’s also a car fridge, folding table, a variety of floor mat options, headlamp protectors, bonnet protectors, weathershields, sill protection, a roadside assist kit and aromatherapy diffuser.

Tasman Off-Road Features and Capability

With the off-road hero X-Pro Pick-Up sitting at the top of the Tasman line-up, it brings a host of unique features beyond the already very capable Tasman 4×4 models that boast some serious off-road fundamentals.

All Tasmans feature an ideal ladder-frame construction with high-mount double wishbone suspension and solid-axle four-layer leaf spring rear suspension layout, that bring optimal off-road ruggedness, traction and load-carrying ability.

Genuine off-road status is underlined by the 4×4 Active two-speed transfer case used by all Tasman 4×4 models, which goes beyond selectable two and four-wheel drive high range modes (2H/4H) and four-wheel drive low-range (4L) with the ability to ability to send power between the front and rear axles automatically in 4×4 Active (4A) mode, depending on where traction is required.

Using a multi-plate clutch within the transfer case, 4A brings the best of both worlds between typical four-wheel drive and all-wheel-drive systems. It works in conjunction with traction and stability control systems and other drivetrain elements to optimise driving safety for incidental loss of traction in higher speed situations when driving in the rain, snow and ice, or dirt roads.

All Tasman 4×4 models beneath the X-Pro also feature a reactive mechanical rear differential lock (m-LD), which goes beyond typical limited-slip differential designs by actually locking the rear wheels together when a loss of forward traction is detected, and is particularly suited to off-road conditions.

The X-Pro goes beyond this with a proactive rear differential lock (e-LD), which enables the driver to select when the differential lock is required to maximise forward traction, by locking the rear wheels together before traversing extreme off-road situations.

The X-Pro also offers specifically tailored off-road suspension and tyres, with the frequency-selective shock absorbers and integrated hydraulic rebound stoppers fitted to all Tasmans complemented by an X-Pro-specific calibration and unique rear bump stops and an extra 14mm of spring height. In conjunction with the X-Pro’s larger all-terrain tyres, this results in an overall 28mm ride height gain over other Tasman models for a total of 252mm.

The X-Line and X-Pro feature a specific front bumper design which has been optimised for off-road clearance, which when combined with the X-Pro’s additional ride height enables an impressive approach angle of 32.2 degrees.

This also results in a rampover angle of 25.8 degrees, and a departure angle of 26.2 degrees, underlining the X-Pro’s fundamental capabilities.

Despite this impressive all-round clearance, the X-Pro also adds additional underbody protection for the fuel tank area to complement the Tasman’s chassis layout that carefully tucks mechanical components within the chassis rails.

These mechanical elements are supported by a variety of console-selectable terrain modes, that enable the driver to set up all Tasman 4x4s for specific traction conditions.

AUTO mode represents an AI-based driving surface analysis for automatic selection of the optimal driving mode.

SNOW mode calibrates the Tasman’s various systems for slippery surfaces like snow.

MUD mode is suited for driving on muddy, unpaved roads or uneven surfaces.

SAND mode is specifically tailored for soft, dry sand or deep gravel surfaces.

The Tasman X-Pro adds ROCK mode, which is particularly suited to bumpier, low-traction surfaces like rocks or deep ruts.

Another specific X-Pro feature is X-Trek mode, which is effectively a low-speed cruise control system for crawling in low-range. It offers five console-selectable speed settings below 10km/h, and enables the driver to maintain steady throttle application in particularly challenging off-road situations.

The X-Pro also brings a specific Off-Road Page within the multimedia screen, which offers a variety of off-road information within a clear graphic display.

This information includes pitch and roll angles to define the severity of the terrain beneath the vehicle, plus steering angle and direction, tyre pressures, battery voltage, oil pressure, along with radiator, engine oil, and transmission temperatures.

The Off-Road Page also highlights the terrain mode selected and the active speed setting of X-Trek mode.

The X-Pro also brings a Ground View Monitor element to the exterior camera views within the multimedia screen, which utilises the front and side cameras to improve driver visibility of the surrounding terrain, particularly in terms of front wheel placement to help choose the best path when off-road.

These X-Pro features round off a host of other specific details reserved for the top Tasman model.

These include a sunroof, in addition to dual wireless phone chargers, a Harmon Kardon premium sound system, heated steering wheel, heated second-row seats, ventilation added for the front seats, eight-way power adjustable front passenger seat, Integrated Memory System, and full ambient mood lighting throughout the interior.

Tasman Towing Features and Capability

Supporting the benchmark 3500kg braked tow rating and 350kg tow ball weight rating of all Tasmans is a host of mechanical and towing-specific calibration elements to optimise driver confidence and safety when hauling a load behind the vehicle.

One key detail is the Integrated Trailer Brake Controller (ITBC), which is integrated from the factory, unlike most rival models, to all Tasmans.

The ITBC enables the driver to accurately calibrate the braking force of electronic trailer brakes through 20 levels to optimise stability and therefore safety while towing. An override function is also within easy reach of the driver.

The ITBC complements Trailer Stability Assist, which is a trailer sway control element of the Tasman’s stability control, where the Tasman can automatically apply finite controls beyond the driver’s capability to help arrest trailer sway and maintain control of the vehicle.

The ITBC is available when the Tow driving mode is selected by a long press on the Drive Mode selector, which brings a towing specific, weight-based shift pattern logic for the transmission, and balances performance with efficiency depending on the scale of the load being towed.

This will hold gears longer than when unladen, particularly when the driver lifts off the throttle, to ensure peak engine outputs remain readily available and therefore make it easier to maintain a steady cruising speed when towing.

The transmission’s shift logic has also been optimised for when heading downhill, which will automatically select lower gears on descent to maintain the driver’s chosen speed and ease the load on brakes.

Trailer mode is automatically activated when a trailer is connected, and appropriate active safety functions are deactivated or scaled back to suit. (Deactivated: FCA, BCA, SEW, SEA, HDA, RCCA, PDW, PCA, RSPA /Scaled back to 90kmh limit: LKA, LFA)

The Trailer page within the multimedia menu enables the driver to set up specific towed loads and store these settings so they’re ready to go every time you tow.

Optimising the performance of the Tasman’s154kW/440Nm 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine and eight-speed automatic transmission under heavy load conditions is a water-to-air intercooler, in addition to standalone high- and low-temperature engine radiator and transmission cooler elements.

The high-temperature engine radiator and cooling fan for all elements is notably the highest specification of any Kia model.

Tasman Specification and Feature Overview

Based on an all-new ladder frame platform, the Tasman is available across five trim levels; S, SX, SX+, X-Line, and X-Pro, across 4×2 and 4×4 layouts.

The Tasman Single-Cab chassis is being offered in either S 4×2, S 4×4, or SX 4×4, while the Dual-Cab chassis can be chosen as either S 4×4 or SX 4×4.

The Dual Cab Pick-Up spans all five trimlines, from S 4×2 to S 4×4, SX 4×4, SX+ 4×4, X-Line 4×4, and X-Pro 4×4.

All Tasmans will be available with payload ratings exceeding 1,000kg, with even the best-equipped X-Pro 4×4 capable of carrying 1013kg.

All Dual Cab Pick-Up variants are also available with a reduced payload option specifically aimed at meeting the criteria for novated leases, which often require a payload of under 1000kg.

This diversity of options is backed by impressive overall load carrying and tow ratings, with all payload ratings exceeding 1,000kg based on a gross vehicle mass (GVM) rating of 3250kg for all Dual Cab variants, contributing to a gross combination mass (GCM) rating of 6200kg.

This GCM figure includes a braked tow rating of 3500kg, which matches the industry benchmark for light commercial utes. Unbraked loads are limited to 750kg.

Helping to manage heavier towed loads as safely as possible is an Integrated Trailer Brake Controller (ITBC), which is fitted to all Tasmans.

Dual Cab Pick-Up Tasmans set a new benchmark for tub size, with the ability to fit an Australian pallet within the tub along with an overall capacity of up to 1336 litres (1292L with tub liner) thanks to overall measurements of 1512mm in length, 1572mm of width, and 540mm of height.

All dual cabs also set a new benchmark for under-seat storage, with a maximum of 45 litres under the second row seat base enabling smaller items to be stored within the cabin out of view.

Significantly, this under-seat storage is maintained with the segment-first slide and recline function for the second row seating on X-Line and X-Pro models, where the seat cushion slides forward while the seatback reclines between 22 and 30 degrees to create a comfortable and relaxing experience for rear passengers.

Another segment first is a folding console table on X-Line and X-Pro models, where the centre console lid folds out to form a versatile table for meals, work and more.

The X-Line and X-Pro are also equipped with dual wireless smartphone charging capability, enabling the charging of two phones at once with no messy cords.

All Tasmans feature Kia’s latest Integrated Panoramic Display, comprised of 12.3-inch driver, 5-inch climate control, and 12.3-inch multimedia displays, along with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and Kia Connect with intelligent remote control functions as well as innovative in-car services and Over-The-Air (OTA) updates.

The Kia Tasman is available in eight exterior colours across the line-up, with three two-tone interior trim varieties spread across the trimlines. Tasman S and SX models feature cloth trim, while SX+ steps up to a combination of cloth and artificial leather. The X-Line and X-Pro grades go a step further by featuring artificial leather throughout.
