1977 Torana A9X Hatchback goes to auction.

CURRENTLY ON OFFER through Pickles is another 70s Australian muscle car, this one described as being both “rare” and “unique” (an interesting combination!)

The 1977 Holden Torana A9X hatchback was prepared for racing by Peter Malloy of Pat Burke Racing in Sydney but never actually raced. One of just 33 GMP&A lightweight bodyshells produced by General Motors-Holden, the car became part of the Modena Collection until it was purchased by the current owner and the odometer reading is still a minuscule 475kms.

Good enough to use as a road car, but too expensive to race?

The car is equipped with the L34-spec 308 cubic inch V8 and Borg Warner Super T10 4-speed transmission. Inside there are Recaro seats in black cloth.

Thrilling performance from the 308 V8

It would make an exciting competition car, but the ever-increasing value of A9Xs and unraced history of this one makes it unlikely to ever see a race track.
