Luxury Range Rover adds features

THE LATEST OFFERING from Land Rover comes with a new 202kW 3.0-litre twin turbo SDV6 engine, a 12kW increase over the existing TDV6.

Importantly for anyone considering towing, the new engine produces an impressive 625Nm of torque, combined with a claimed fuel consumption of 7.7L/100km.

Another improvement with the 4.4-litre SDV8 diesel is that is mated to an enhanced eight-speed automatic gearbox for better efficiency and reduced emissions.

The perfect car for a paddle

These new powertrains join the P400e plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) launched last year and delivering an all-electric range of 51km, with zero emissions. It even works out the most energy efficient route using its intelligent navigation system.

… but would you want to bring muddy feet in here?

Further enhancements include adaptive cruise control with stop/go. The system enables the Range Rover to maintain a set distance from the car in front, including coming to a complete stop and pulling away again (provided it is stationary for less than three seconds). Also on offer is adaptive cruise control with steering assist that helps keep the vehicle in its lane by applying moderate steering interventions. The system uses lane markings, but where no lane markings can be detected (a common problem on Australian roads), the system follows the path of the vehicle ahead. If the driver changes lanes or brakes, the system is deactivated.

… or put the dog back here?

The new Range Rover is in showrooms now, priced from $194,535 (plus on-road costs).
