New Range Rover Evoque coming

THE “MUST HAVE” fashion accessory, the Range Rover Evoque, has proven itself a remarkable success story. While it’s been phenomenally popular with the young trendies, it’s also been a success with fashion-conscious over-50s.

But like all fashions, updates are vital if success is to continue.

Welcome the new Range Rover Evoque, revealed in London’s trendy East End and available to order now in Australia, priced from $62,670 (plus ORC).

Land Rover chief design officer Gerry McGovern commented, “When Range Rover Evoque made its debut back in 2010, it transformed the world of compact SUVs and the new model is set to continue that remarkable journey. This characterful vehicle combines refinement and fun to create that all-important emotional reaction that will turn heads and make people smile.”

PR-speak often exaggerates, but in this case, McGovern is right on the money – the Evoque really did revolutionise the small SUV market with its quirky and distinctive style.

Global sales have exceeded 772,000 and the vehicle has won more than 217 international awards.

The new Evoque gets all-new architecture to accommodate both plug-in and mild hybrid systems. The only things carried over, apparently, are the door hinges! The new chassis ensures a stiffer body. Software has been refined for a more intuitive experience (something over-50s are sure to appreciate) and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now standard.

The fashion connection continues, with Land Rover collaborating with fashion and technology brands. For example, at the launch British activist and model Adwoa Aboah wore a specially commissioned dress designed by Ashley Williams made from the Evoque’s suede-cloth textile. British luxury brand Mulberry has created a travel collection inspired by the new Evoque. You can’t buy it yet, but if your excitement can’t be contained, register your interest at www.mulberry.com/range-rover Premium audio company Master & Dynamic has created two bespoke concept Range Rover Evoque-inspired earphones, made from handcrafted acetate (you can get more information, if you must, at www.masteranddynamic.com) and finally, the latest Zenith watch from the DEFY Classic Collection was specially co-developed by design and technical teams working together. It’s a 200-piece limited edition available now through Zenith’s retail network or selected Land Rover dealerships from early this year.

Oh, we almost forgot … it’s about the car. The price quoted for Australia is for the Range Rover Evoque P200 S (147kW) automatic AWD.
