Volkswagen invites “expressions of interest” for ID.Buzz van and MPV

THE INSTANTLY ICONIC ‘electric Kombi’ will publicly debut at the Volkswagen Cronulla Surf Masters championship on October 21, 2023, alongside dozens of beloved Type 2 originals all positioned at their spiritual home – the beach.

First examples of the ID.Buzz for Australia will start arriving on our shores from December 2024, meaning Aussies could be able to take first deliveries of the ‘as cool as air cooled’ van before Christmas next year.

With its distinctive design with two-tone colouring, ID.Buzz certainly evokes the appearance and serves the purpose of air-cooled Kombis of old while embracing the technical sophistication of Volkswagen’s latest ID EVs.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles director Ryan Davies said the ID.Buzz became one step closer to Australia following technical approval and a confirmed start of production date.
“There is nothing on the road that melds love-brand heritage with new-age technical sophistication quite like the ID.Buzz,” Mr Davies said.

“In three weekends’ time Aussies can see the first ID.Buzz on our shores at the Volkswagen Cronulla Surf Masters and they are now able to register their interest for the five-seat, seven-seat or Cargo van bodystyles at the Volkswagen Australia website,” he added.

“We anticipate the coolest battery electric vehicle may quickly become the hottest ticket in town for families, retirees, tradies, surfers and the environmentally conscious all told.”

The Volkswagen ID.Buzz will make its public debut at the Volkswagen Cronulla Surf Masters on October 21, 2023. The single-day event will see over 100 of NSW’s best shortboarders aged over 28 compete, with a ‘Kombi Rally’ and the ID.Buzz positioned beachside at Perryman Square, Cronulla, in Sydney’s south.
