Volkswagen re-launches Touareg Adventure special edition

VOLKSWAGEN AUSTRALIA HAS ANNOUNCED the return in August of its Touareg Adventure model with a new range of standard features and unique optional packages.

The most robust Touareg available, the Adventure special editions build on the Touareg 190TDI Premium variant in blending luxury comfort with off-road capability.

There is a choice of two unique interiors, both in supple Savona leather: Atacama Beige; or the darker Florence Brown. Both are matched to open-pore fine grain ash wood trim in the dashboard and doors.

Cabins feature high definition displays, ergonomic dials and instruments. As with the standard Touareg, the Adventure’s Active Info Display is also available as part of the optional Innovision package.

Along with distinct ‘Adventure’ badging, theAdventure rides on 19-inch ‘Esperence’ alloys and is set off by roof bars. Underneath, it is bolstered by additional under-body protection and a larger than standard 90-litre fuel tank.

Further visual distinction can be added with Sechura Beige Metallic paint in combination with the beige interior choice as is Pure White (with beige interior). Florence Brown’s exterior colour choices are Silicone Grey and Deep Black Pearl Effect.

The Touareg is Volkswagen’s technology flagship. The Adventure includes as standard Area View 360-degree camera. Providing a detailed image of obstacles right around the car via the infotainment screen, this feature which proved popular in the standard Touareg range and enables the Adventure to negotiate the closely proximate obstacles and narrow paths encountered off the main road.

The Touareg Adventure also comes equipped with additional driving modes to the standard ‘Offroad Auto’ and ‘Expert’ modes, for when the road runs out: Off-road Gravel and Off-road Sand driving modes.

The parameters of these individual driving mode programs are as follows:

Off-road Gravel
The vehicle systems are adjusted so that grip can be improved by more targeted power transmission on field roads or gravel tracks. Hill Descent Control is switched on.

Off-road Sand
The vehicle systems are adjusted so that grip can be improved by more targeted power transmission on sand. Hill Descent Control is switched off.

To support these programs, the standard tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) monitors the tyre pressure of the four wheels using pressure sensors in the valve stems of the tyres. The system displays the tyre pressure on the infotainment screen under the “Vehicle Status” menu and will warn the driver in the event of a pressure loss.

The TPMS is particularly useful for offroad driving, as the tyre pressures can be lowered (for example when driving on sand) and the driver can ensure that all tyres are at the same pressure.  The driver can then use the air pump included in the boot to return the tyre pressures to the target pressure displayed on the infotainment screen for on-road driving.

Buyers can choose from a wide range of options to customize their vehicle to suit their preferred type of activity. Adventure Package One (someone must have thought long and hard to come up with that one!) includes a tow bar, luggage compartment tray and front and rear mudflaps; while Adventure Package Two includes a tow bar, luggage compartment tray, side steps and all-weather rubber floor mats. In addition, customers can add roof bar accessories including Volkswagen’s roof box range, a bike/surfboard/kayak carrier and a ski/snowboard carrier.

The Touareg Adventure is available to order now through Volkswagen Australia’s national dealer network, and will be limited to 150 examples.
