VW Touareg Wolfsburg sees the end of 4.0-litre V8 turbodiesel

VOLKSWAGEN GROUP AUSTRALIA IS BRINGING back the Wolfsburg badge in the form of 100 V8 Touaregs and 200 with the latest V6 turbo diesel.

At 4.9 seconds, barely behind the Golf R’s 0-100km/h time, the 100 Wolfsburg V8s will be the last Touaregs built with this formidable 4.0 litre 310kW/900Nm turbo diesel. These join the 200 Touareg R-Line V8s that go on sale late this year.

The Touareg is a stylish large SUV

The Touareg Wolfsburg V6 is equipped with the latest EU6 version of the Volkswagen’s Group’s 3.0 TDI. This is good for 210KW/600Nm and a Golf GTI-challenging 6.5 second 0-100km/h time.

The new “Black Style” package renders the Wolfsburg Edition the most visually arresting Touareg of the current generation. It is comprised of a blacked-out front grille which extends into the headlight cluster. Gloss black mirror caps are complemented by the gloss black window surrounds, black roof rails and gloss black 21-inch Suzuka alloy wheels. These unique enhancements to the popular R-Line package endow the Wolfsburg Edition with an aggressive demeanour which can be refined with exclusive Midnight Blue metallic paint.

Essentially the 210TDI Wolfsburg Edition mirrors the V8 TDI Wolfsburg Edition, which means that Night Vision and Direct Tyre Pressure Monitors are available on the 210TDI for the first time. Soft closing doors are exclusive to the Touareg Wolfsburg Edition. If the door is not fully closed, the soft closing door will automatically pull shut.

However, the new Wolfsburg Touareg doesn’t come cheap. In V6 form it starts from $119,990 (plus on road costs) and in V8 form, $139,990 (plus on road costs).

The Touareg is an accomplished on-road performer as well

All new Volkswagens come with a five-year factory warranty. As with the rest of Volkswagen’s new vehicle range, the Touareg is offered with a three-year or a five-year Care Plan, the Touareg’s priced at $1350 and $2500 respectively. The latter plan saves the cost of the first service.
