Jaguar, Land Rover move to five-year warranties

ONCE THE MOVE TO LONGER warranties was adopted by a few car companies (Kia led the way with its seven-year warranty, and Mitsubishi upped the ante with its ten-year warranty) it was almost inevitable that others would have to follow suit.

The warranty period for all new Jaguar vehicles sold in Australia from 1 April 2021 is to be extended from the current three-years/100,000 kilometres to five years and unlimited kilometres.

Warranty changes are effective across the entire range and even the multi-award-winning, all-electric I-PACE performance SUV, will change.

The I-PACE, which recently added the Royal Automobile Club of Victoria’s 2020 ‘EV of the Year over $65,000’ award to its trophy cabinet, currently boasts a five-year 200,000-kilometre warranty. That will switch to unlimited kilometres from April 1. The 8-year 160,000 warranty on the BEV traction battery will remain (the I-PACE Battery Electric Vehicle Traction Battery is covered for 8 years/160,000km whichever occurs first with a minimum of 70 percent state of health).

When coupled with the optional 5-year service plan (standard on I-PACE and F-TYPE), Jaguar vehicles now have a more compelling value proposition than ever before.

Announcing the warranty changes for Jaguar’s Australian model range, company Managing Director Mark Cameron said while tactical warranty offers had been made throughout 2020 for selected marketing campaigns, this latest change is here to stay.

“This warranty revision is an important change, one we see as a key progression for the Jaguar brand in Australia and one that is permanent,” Mr Cameron said, adding that the changes will both add to the buying and ownership experience and enhance vehicle value.

“We have worked extremely hard at developing the extended warranty for the Australian market and I believe the increased length of the warranty period, plus unlimited kilometres, will deliver an even more enjoyable ownership experience for Jaguar buyers.

“We are proud to be able to offer our Australian customers such an extensive warranty,” he added.

In addition to the new 5 year/unlimited km warranty, all Jaguar vehicles will also be covered by a 6-year warranty on panels for corrosion.

The five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty applies to all new Jaguar cars whether purchased for private or business use. Coupled with the best technical expertise available through the authorised Jaguar Australia retailer network, it will give customers even greater confidence in their vehicles.

New Land Rovers also covered for five years

The warranty period for all new Land Rover vehicles sold in Australia from 1 April 2021 has also been extended from the current three-years/100,000 kilometres to five years and unlimited kilometres.

The warranty changes are timely for the impressive new Defender SUV range which, since its world premiere at Germany’s 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, has received great critical acclaim and experienced unprecedented global demand.

New Defender has also claimed some 30+ international motoring awards, including Top Gear magazine’s overall ‘2020 Car of the Year’ award as well as its ‘Unstoppable Force’ award.

When coupled with the optional 5-year service plan (standard on Range Rover), Land Rover vehicles now have a more compelling value proposition than ever before.

In addition to the new 5 year/unlimited km warranty, all Land Rover vehicles will also be covered by a 6-year warranty on panels for corrosion.
