Jeep Grand Cherokee prices slashed as sales plummet

TYRING TO FIND A REASON for the sudden sales drop for the Jeep Grand Cherokee is certainly not easy, and sure to be top-of-mind for Stellantis Australian executives.

Perhaps one of the factors has been the fairly steep price hikes since the pandemic when the Wrangler Rubicon faced a $19,000 price hike in 12 months and the latest version of the Grand Cherokee arrived with a sticker price that had climbed by $17,500.

Buyers penalised Jeep by leaving in droves, with sales of the Grand Cherokee dropping to their lowest levels in nearly 15 years and overall Jeep sales falling to just 4634, the worst result since 2009.

Quite probably in response, Jeep prices have been savagely cut by between $11,000 and $28,000 for the Grand Cherokee. These apply to the 2023 model, because 2024 models are yet to arrive in local showrooms. While this can be considered good news for buyers, it will hit existing owners hard because the price cuts will have a significant impact on Grand Cherokee resale values.

The five-seater Jeep Grand Cherokee models are now available from $65,450 and seven-seater Jeep Grand Cherokee models, are priced from $69,450.

The entry level Night Eagle five-seater has been cut by $12,500, bringing the price down to $65,450 (plus on road costs)Standard equipment across the Jeep Grand Cherokee range includes seat heating, Uconnect 5 navigation with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, powered front seats with power lumbar adjustment, height adjustable Power Liftgate, automatic LED headlamps, Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Path Detection, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Active Lane Management, Pedestrian Automatic Emergency Braking (with cyclist detection) and Drowsy Driver Detection and Traffic Sign Recognition.
