Limited edition Mercedes-Benz off-roader adds $50,000 to price

THERE ARE FEW MORE recognisable off-roaders (or more capable, if it comes to that) than the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon

The global icon of style and luxury is set to be elevated even further by the introduction of the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Grand Edition, a premium makeover adding distinctive gold-coloured details both inside and outside the vehicle.

The Mercedes-AMG G 63 Grand Edition will be limited to just 1,000 units globally.

The G 63 Grand Edition is presented in MANUFAKTUR night black magno paintwork, providing an ideal base to achieve an exciting visual contrast with gold-coloured design elements chosen to selectively highlight the direct lineage of the modern Mercedes-AMG G 63 back to the first G model released in 1979.

“The Mercedes-AMG G 63 is undoubtedly regarded as an automotive icon,” says Michael Schiebe, the CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH and Head of the Top End Vehicle (TEV) Group.

“With the expressive and limited Grand Edition, we are celebrating the success story of the G 63, which is far from over.”

Celebrating a glittering heritage

In a unique first, the ubiquitous Mercedes-Benz star and the AMG logo on the grille of the G 63 Grand Edition are rendered in Kalahari gold magno finish, as is the Mercedes-AMG badge adorning the bonnet.

Elsewhere, the inlays in the front and rear bumpers, the optical underride protection in the front, the Mercedes star in the spare wheel inlay, and the spare wheel ring, are also finished in this same distinctive colour, instantly turning each into an eye-catching design feature in its own right.

Perhaps the most expressive feature of all is the 22-inch AMG-forged alloy wheels, which are rendered in tech gold, secured by a matt black central locking nut which is set with a Mercedes star in tech gold.

The golden hue also extends to the side foiling, which presents the AMG brand’s trademark diagonal pattern in the same eye-catching black and gold scheme.

The golden touch continues

In the G 63 Grand Edition, occupants are also awarded gold with a continuation inside the cabin of the stunning contrast between classic black trim and strategic gold-coloured highlights.

Upon entering, occupants are greeted by AMG emblems on the black door sill trims, which have illuminated borders. Seats finished in G MANUFAKTUR black Nappa leather are contrasted by gold stitching, while plaques bearing a gold AMG logo and gold edging are set into the backrests. Black floor mats are also decorated with gold stitching.

The roof grab handles are finished in Nappa leather, while the trim piece in the inlay of the grab handle on the passenger side is carbon with copper thread, set with a high-quality Grand Edition badge.

Other trim parts of the interior are also finished in carbon with copper thread, while the AMG Performance steering wheel is clad in DINAMICA microfibre and features a steering wheel clasp with a G 63 plaque.

Keep it under wraps

Also included is a customised AMG Indoor Car Cover. With a breathable outer layer of tear-resistant synthetic fibre fabric and anti-static flannel inner fabric, it protects the vehicle from dust and scratches in the garage.

Pricing

The new Mercedes-AMG G 63 Grand Edition package is priced at $50,000 over and above the $363,561 (plus on road costs) vehicle purchase price.

To maintain the exclusivity of this premium makeover, only a strictly limited number of vehicles will be available to the Australian market.
