Peugeot taking pre-orders for 408 GT Fastback PHEV

WITH LONG LEAD TIMES and deliveries being promised way in the future, it probably makes sense to get your order in as early as possible if there’s something you really want to buy. Peugeot Australia is now taking pre-orders for the 408 GT Fastback Plug-in Hybrid, ahead of the official on-sale and delivery of customer orders in Q3, 2024.

Initially launching in the Australian market as a single plug-in hybrid variant, the Peugeot 408 stands out from the crowd with its dynamic fastback silhouette and striking feline stance.

Priced from $67,990 (plus on road costs), the 408 GT Fastback Plug-in Hybrid offers a standout combination of engineering excellence focused on efficiency, style, allure, and cutting-edge technologies to enhance driving pleasure and intuitive use.

To place a pre-order, contact your local authorised Peugeot dealer or reserve online at Peugeot.com.au. Throughout the pre-order period, Australian consumers can explore demonstrator models at select retailers, immersing themselves in the 408 experience.

Kate Gillis, Managing Director Peugeot Australia, said, “The Peugeot 408 is an artful statement where sleek design intertwines seamlessly with intuitive technology. Its allure isn’t just in its premium aesthetics; it is in its unique dynamism, innovation, and the continuation of our local electrification journey, setting a new standard for what’s possible on the road ahead.”

Alluring Design

The Peugeot 408 stands out first and foremost for its dynamic fastback silhouette and its unmistakable style, but also for the extent to which it breaks the mould. Its feline stance and fang-shaped light signature of the full LED matrix headlights perfectly integrates the 408 into the Peugeot family, as do the three-claw LED lights at the rear.

The Peugeot 408 GT Fastback Plug-in Hybrid features 20-inch Monolithe diamond cut alloy wheels; they are striking when stationary and create a dramatic visual effect in movement, with their unique design in keeping with the 408’s original concept approach.

Particular attention has been paid to the aerodynamics of the new Peugeot 408 with the bumper, boot flap, diffuser, body pillars, mirrors, underbody screens, and more optimised thanks to close collaboration between Peugeot’s stylists and aerodynamic engineers – a collaboration that echoes the work discipline set up by Peugeot’s design and engineering teams while creating the 9X8 Hypercar. In the same vein, the rear of the roof optimises air flow, guided by two “cat ears”, creating an optimal aerodynamic corridor towards the boot lid spoiler. These two features not only add to the vehicle’s aerodynamic capability, but they’re also distinctive elements of the new Peugeot 408’s style.

The new Peugeot 408 colour range includes:

Standard Metallic Paint
($690)
Premium Paint ($1,050)
Obsession Blue –
a new colour for the launch of 408
Okenite White
Sellenium Grey
Nera Black
Elixir Red

The only option for the 408 GT Fastback Plug-in Hybrid is a sunroof, priced at $2,000.

Peugeot is persisting with the small steering wheel, even though it isn’t universally liked

Premium Ambiance and Elevated Technology

For both its driver and passengers, the Peugeot 408 offers the latest generation of the i-Cockpit, instantly recognisable by its compact steering wheel.

In the cockpit, the emphasis is on quality and connectivity, with the very latest technologies to make the driving and travelling experience more intuitive and rewarding.

Located at eye level just above the steering wheel, the 10-inch digital instrument cluster can be customised and personalised, and the central 10-inch touchscreen is slightly lower than the digital cluster, remaining faithful to the i-Cockpit principle of a ‘driver-oriented’ approach, which optimises driving ergonomics without excluding the passenger.

The entertainment system features fully configurable i-toggles which are arranged below the central screen like an open book and provide an aesthetic and level of technology unique in the segment. Each i-toggle is a touch-sensitive shortcut to climate settings, a phone contact, a radio station, or applications, set to the user’s preference.

The touchscreen’s infotainment capabilities include Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity plus FM/DAB and 3D Satellite Navigation.

The ambient LED lighting, with eight colours to choose from, located behind the central screen releases a soft light and contributes to the sophisticated atmosphere of the cabin.

The same light extends to the foamed door panels, which match the Nappa ‘MISTRAL’ full grain leather seat trim with “Tramontane” charcoal grey top stitch.

The driver’s seat features an eight-way electronic adjustment, and the front passenger seat features a six-way electronic adjustment; both feature lumbar adjustment. Both the driver and front passenger seats are heated and equipped with a multi-point massage function.
